The Xbox One had an average 2018, with less notable exclusives than 2017, and with games such as PUGB ending up on the rival PlayStation 4 platform. This year we had Sea Of Thieves, State Of Decay 2 and Forza Horizon 4. The big game of those is clearly Forza. Sea Of Thieves came out with little to no content and well, State Of Decay 2 was just really quiet in every way and to Me just wasn’t a great game, but My Random Gaming Talk Co-Host did like it a lot.
For notable exclusives this year that really sums up Xbox One’s 2018 on that side of things, disappointing. Let’s hope for a better 2019 with the possibility of Ori And The Will Of The Wisps, Halo Infinite, Gears Of War 5 and Crackdown 3
So what did I spent use most on my Xbox One in 2018? Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, Now TV and the Xbox One’s TV app. Of the games above mentioned I played some of State Of Decay but did not finish it, didn’t play any Sea Of Thieves and played very little of Forza Horizon 4. Due to using my PlayStation 4 for 3rd, 2nd and 1st party PlayStation games I had very little video game reasons to use my Xbox One in 2018, I’d like this to change as I do like the idea of Game Pass but simply didn’t need to use it other than my playthrough of Thief Of Thieves from SkyBound.
On the other side of things Xbox One did have a fairly decent year with the purchases of a few studios including Ninja Theory who did Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice last year and of course Obsidian. There was also, of course, the big change with the Game Pass having the ability to not only get Xbox 1st party titles on launch via the service but now to be able to pre-load them. This is great, but again the bigger exclusives need to be present.
So yes, while Microsoft made some big Game Pass changes and big moves with studios this isn’t going to take effect any time soon, so to Me I actually think Xbox had a worse 2018 then it did with 2017, but 2017 wasn’t great either. it’s time for the Xbox One to get what everyone wants. GAMES.
