Star Wars Battlefront 2 Review – PlayStation 4

By Matthew Nemeth

So after the debacle of microtransactions, loot boxes and the pay to win model of video games do i feel like a can a good campaign can make Star Wars Battlefront 2 feel fun at least? Not really, but sometimes. i’m very conflicted as i approach my review of a game that has attempted to take thousands of pounds or dollars away from people and use it’s popularity as bait. As i installed Star Wars Battlefront 2 on my PlayStation 4 i thaught about what could happen in this very short campaign and if it could heal any wounds EA has put on this game, Then as i went into the main menu and heard the forever glorious Star Wars theme tune i had my select already on the campaign, Then i decided to have a very quick browse of the multiplayer side of things and even went into one match and it was just boring and just knowing how badly EA has treated Star Wars it just left such a bad taste in my mouth and i left the game. There was nothing particularly bad about any of it apart from the bad taste and the damage this has all caused just left me feeling so let down as a gamer.

The campaign itself? it’s ok. You pay as new character Iden Versio a new character for Star Wars as she starts on the Rebel Alliance, The story itself is very Star Wars and it’s but it’s just good and kinda cool but it can get a little repetitive but does have a few good moments. You also play as 5 other different characters at points in the story, Luke, Han, Leia, Lando and Kylo Ren. Their parts each are about 20 mins and are fun in some ways. Other then that, There’s not much to the story but i’m glad they at least put one in.

The Gameplay i never really got into, I felt powerful at times and it was cool to see the different characters and use their different abilities ect. but I’ve never really been into the gameplay aspect of this, something just feels off with it, or maybe i just still have that bad taste in my mouth from EA and it has just tainted my experience of the game.

I’ll tell you what i did actually like though, those space battles, pretty fun, so that’s something.

Overall i just feel pretty disappointed and let down but also had a little fun at times with this game.
